About Us
We began Milkweed Cafe in 1998, raising monarch butterflies for release at weddings and other special events. We then expanded our online store, MilkweedCafe.com to include a wide variety of butterfly and nature-themed gifts. Soon after, we began creating handcrafted butterfly-themed wedding favors made with plantable papers and wildflower seed packets. These were an immediate hit with our customers, as they were so different from what other favor companies were offering.
The huge success of these items encouraged us to expand our favor line and create a second site, which featured a variety of special events favors, The Favor Garden. Themes in nature inspire all of our favors and gifts, and we specialize in custom-crafted and personalized favors. With the favors and gifts businesses experiencing such great success, we discontinued the live butterfly releases, to devote more time to developing this new aspect of our business.
Even as our business continues to grow and change, we keep our primary goals in mind: providing environmentally conscious products, excellent customer service, and unique offerings for our customers’ special life events.
